Montana Native Fish Paintings

Late last year, I was hired by a Bozeman-based fly fishing company to create paintings depicting several of the primary, native fish of Montana. I recently completed paintings of the Yellowstone Cutthroat, Arctic Grayling, Bull Trout, and Westslope Cutthroat. Images of the paintings will appear on a series of Montana native t-shirts that will be available in fly fishing shops throughout Montana. The t-shirts are also available online through the Montana Sporting Journal’s website at http://store.valueweb.com/servlet/montan14/StoreFront.

This was a challenging project that I really enjoyed working on. Although I paint trout frequently, these paintings required a much different approach than usual. Each fish had to be an accurate representation of the species and I also had to make sure the paintings would transfer well to a t-shirt. In the end, I’m pleased with how everything turned out and I’m happy that my artwork will be used to bring attention to the native fish of Montana and the importance of protecting them.

The original paintings are for sale as a set for $800 (unframed). Each painting is oil on board and measures 11X14 inches. If you’re interested in owning this one-of-a-kind collection of original, native fish paintings, please contact me.
