Commissioned Trout Painting

I just finished a new commissioned trout painting for a client. This was the first underwater trout painting I've attempted because it's pretty tough to get good reference material without having good underwater photography equipment. In this case, my client supplied the reference photo so I didn't have to worry about it.

Painting an underwater scene offered a bunch of new challenges and I learned a lot. Overall, it was a fun piece to do. My client was happy with the end result and that's the main goal.

new plein air study

Wow, I didn't realize it had been so long since I last posted. Time flies when you're busy.

Here is a plein air study I did on the 14th up in the Tobacco Root Mountains. There is still tons of snow in the high country but the valleys are very green. I did this painting at mid-day so the light was pretty tough to work with but it was a successful study nonetheless.
